Denis
Viénot, born in Paris in 1946, former General Secretary of Secours Catholique,
former President of Caritas Europa, former President of Caritas
Internationalis, former General Secretary of "Justice and Peace
France" from 2011 to 2017, at the Conference of Bishops of France,
department (team) in charge of international justice and peace..
After he studied Law – Degree in Private Law, Postgraduate Diploma in Public Law,
Postgraduate Diploma in Political Sciences – and a six years’ experience
in banking, mostly focused on international financings, he joined Secours
Catholique/Caritas France in 1975. He was successively administrative and
financial manager, International Department manager, general secretary
(1991 -1998), adviser to the international and head of the administrative
and legal department.
He was treasurer of Caritas Internationalis from 1987 to 1999 and member
of the International Advocacy Committee. He was president of Caritas Europa
from 1999 to 2005, president of Caritas Internationalis from 2005 to 2007.
He was member of the “Human Rights National Consultative Commission” from
1996 to 1999 and again since 2012; he is Chairman of the Subcommittee "racism,
anti-Semitism, xenophobia, discrimination and vulnerable groups".
He is member of “Justice and Peace
France” since 1987.
He has
been a member of the “Human Rights National Consultative Commission”
from 1996
to 1999 and again since 2012 where he is president of the “Racisms,
discrimination, and intolerance” subcommittee and Permanent Rapporteur
on the fight against racism.
